description:
Vigorous, graceful shrub with a long flowering season. Semi-evergreen dark green leaves and masses of small tubular, pale pink flowers in summer and early autumn. Bronzy winter colouring.

cultivation:
Fertile, well drained soil. Full sun or a little shade. Best in a location with some protection from cold winds but otherwise tough and adaptable.
If required, lightly prune back shoots after flowering.

propagation:
By greenwood cuttings in early summer or semi-ripe cuttings in late summer.

usage:
Shrub borders, this is probably the easiest and most commonly used of the Abelias.
Extensively used in western France for roadside plantings.

other notes:
A hybrid of A. chinensis x A. uniflora, originally raised in Italy.
