description:
Clumps of stiff, slender stems with light green irregularly divided pinnate leaves. Racemes of small white flowers in late spring and early summer, later developing into round white berries, each with a conspicuous black eye, carried on thickened reddish stems.
cultivation:
Cool, moist, reasonably fertile soil in partial shade. Enrich soil with leaf-mould and ensure it does not dry out completely in hot weather.
propagation:
By seed, sown in autumn, or by division of clumps in early spring.
usage:
Woodland gardens.
