Deep, pinkish-red cup-shaped flowers, darker on the reverse, with bold yellow stamens, in late summer and early autumn. Dark green deeply divided, toothed leaves.
Moist, fertile, humus-rich in sun or part shade. Dislikes excessive winter wet. In cold area a covering of mulch in autumn and spring is beneficial
