description:
Clump-forming with large, broad mid-green leaves, which turn red-bronze in cold winter weather. Tall reddish stems carry branched heads of bright rose-red flowers in spring. One of the largest growing varieties.

cultivation:
Best in humus-rich, moist, well drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Will tolerate many conditions including poor soil and exposed positions, but dislikes extreme heat and drought. Divide and replant clumps every 3 to 5 years.

propagation:
From sections of root rhizome, each with at least one leaf node or growing bud, preferably taken after flowering in late spring or in autumn. Plant in well drained soil or compost.
