description:
Attractive medium sized single plum-purple flowers, freely produced in late summer and early autumn. Each flower has 4 to 6 petals with a central bar slightly redder than the surrounds. Robust grower and disease resistant.

cultivation:
All clematis prefer alkaline soil but will normally tolerate other soil types. Requires regular supply of moisture. When planting, make the hole deeper than usual, as a precaution against Clematis wilt.
Prune hard back in late winter.

propagation:
Semi-ripe cuttings in early summer. By layering in late winter or early spring.

usage:
On trellis, fences, arbours, pergolas etc. Suitable as a cut flower.
