All clematis prefer alkaline soil but will normally tolerate other soil types. Requires regular supply of moisture. When planting, make the hole deeper than usual, as a precaution against Clematis wilt.
Prune hard back in late winter.

Semi-ripe cuttings in early summer. By layering in late winter or early spring.

On trellis, fences, arbours, pergolas etc. Suitable as a cut flower.
