Vigorous, robust, cormous perennial, in autumn producing, goblet-shaped violet-purple flowers with white centres. Erect lance-shaped leaves follow in spring.
Deep fertile soil, well drained but not too dry. Full sun. Plant corms about 10cm deep in summer or early autumn.
All parts of the plant are very poisonous but have medicinal use in the treatment of gout and rheumatism.
May possibly be the same as Colchicum pannonicum.
