Large, spreading shrub. Clusters of relatively large, spidery burnt-orange flowers with crimpled petals flushed red at the base, on bare branches in winter. Good fragrance. Foliage colours well in autumn.

Best in moist, fertile, acid to neutral soil in sun or part shade. Dislikes dry soils. Benefits from a site sheltered from strong winds.
Prune if required, by removing dead or unwanted branches in late winter/early spring.
