Very large, single, pure white ruffled flowers with wavy petal edges, from August to October.
Reasonably fertile, humus-rich, moist, well drained soil in full sun. Performs best in areas with long hot summers where it is likely to be hardier. Drought tolerant once established.
Prune in early spring. On established plants, some old stems can be cut back hard.

Raised by Dr. Donald Egolf at the US National Arboretum, Washington, in 1963 and introduced in 1970.
