Tropical bulb. Very striking, almost orchid-like, large green and purple-maroon striped flowers, produced in winter in the northern hemisphere. Dormant in summer.
Tender, grow in a pot as a house or conservatory plant, or outside in hot areas. Fertile well drained soil in sun or light shade. Water freely while in growth, keep dry when dormant.
Plant bulbs with the neck above soil level, in autumn (for northern hemisphere).
From seed or bulb offsets.
