description:
Medium sized shrub with flattened heads of silvery lilac-pink to sky-blue flowers, depending on the soil conditions. The florets have distinctively incurving petals and are slightly fragrant.

cultivation:
Moist, well drained, reasonably fertile, humus-rich soil. Sun or part shade, preferably with shelter from cold, drying winds. May become chlorotic on very shallow chalky soil. Performs well in seaside locations. Slightly less hardy than most other varieties.
The flower colour is influenced by the soil pH; acid soil, with a pH of less than 5.5, will generally produce blue flowers. A pH above this tends to produce pink flowers, or in some cases neutral soils result in off-white flowerheads.
