Hortensia type with mopheads of deep reddish pink to violent-blue flowers, depending on the soil pH, produced in summer. Relatively small growing, compact bushy habit.
Moist, well drained, reasonably fertile, humus-rich soil. Sun or part shade, preferably with shelter from cold, drying winds. May become chlorotic on very shallow chalky soil. Performs well in seaside locations.
The flower colour is influenced by the soil pH; acid soil, with a pH of less than 5.5, will generally produce blue flowers. A pH above this tends to produce pink flowers, or in some cases neutral soils result in off-white flowerheads.
Shrub borders or also suitable for pots.
