Beardless, rhizomatous, Laevigatae type iris. Arching, often evergreen grey-green leaves and branching stems each carry six to twelve flowers which have a yellow background colour heavily veined purple, giving a rich brown appearance.
Fertile, humus-rich, damp or wet, acid soil. Will thrive in a position at the edge of water. Full sun or part shade
