Imposing perennial with large, rounded to heart-shaped, very dark glossy chocolate-maroon leaves, purple underneath, becoming greener as they age. Clusters of daisy-like orange-yellow flowers in summer. The darkest leaved variety.
Fertile, moist to wet soil in a sunny position for the best leaf colour, or part shade.
May be susceptable to slug damage.
Damp borders or bog gardens. Good near water.
Bred by James Crawford, Fife, Scotland. Named after his late wife.
