Upright biennial or short-lived perennial. Long silver-grey basal leaves and smaller stem leaves. Leaves and stems are slightly hairy. Long stalks carry double, deep magenta-red flowers from mid to late summer.
Does not produce seed.
Best in fairly dry, poorish, well drained soil in full sun. Dead-head to prolong flowering.
