Small spreading tree. Attractive large pink and white flowers flushed with purple from the base, produced over a relatively long period in spring.
cultivation:
Not too fussy about soil, moist, reasonably fertile, humus-rich, acid to neutral soil is ideal. Will thrive in heavy clay and tolerant of atmospheric pollution. Best with some protection from strong winds, in sun or part shade. Flower buds may suffer damage from hard frosts.
If required, prune after flowering.
