Hybrid magnolia which will ultimately make a small spreading tree. Very attractive star shaped flowers, soft lilac pink flushed with purple. Will produce flowers on comparatively young plants.
Not too fussy about soil, moist, reasonably fertile, humus-rich, acid to neutral soil is ideal. Will thrive in heavy clay and tolerant of atmospheric pollution. Best with some protection from strong winds, in sun or part shade. Flower buds may suffer damage from hard frosts.
If required, prune unwanted or crossing branches when dormant in autumn or late winter to very early spring.
Hybrid of Magnolia kobus and Magnolia stellata 'Rosea', raised at Nymans, East Sussex, UK.
