Dessert apple producing fruit that is strongly red-flushed over a yellow background, with crisp, firm textured, juicy, yellowish-white flesh and a sweet aromatic flavour. Early cropping and stores well.
Moderately fertile, well drained soil, preferably in full sun. Performs best in areas which are relatively dry. Can be susceptible to scab.
Harvest fruit in October.
Size depends on the grafting rootstock.
Pollination group D. Partly self-fertile.
Widely grown commercially.
Originated in New Zealand, 1934, from a cross of Malus 'Kidd's Orange Red' x Malus 'Golden Delicious'
