Large evergreen with spreading, arching branches. Young foliage is dark red. Pendant panicles of white flowers opening from deep red buds.

Moist, well-drained, humus rich, acidic soil in partial shade. Sheltered, woodland type conditions are ideal. Will tolerate full sun if not too hot.
