description:
Medium sized shrub. Young leaves are deep red, becoming glossy chestnut brown before turning dark green. White bell shaped flowers open in spring.

cultivation:
Moist, well-drained, humus rich, acidic soil in partial shade. Sheltered, woodland type conditions are ideal. Will tolerate full sun if not too hot.
Can suffer from Phytophthora root rot disease, causing wilting or death.
