Small cushion-forming alpine with tight rosettes of tiny, lime encrusted, grey-green leaves. Lilac flowers, deepening to purple in the throats, in spring.

Very sharply drained alkaline or neutral soil in full sun. Avoid excessive winter wet. Can be grown in tufa.

By separation of rosettes.

Suitable for alpine troughs, rock or scree gardens.
