description:
Almost evergreen bulbous perennial, with the new lance-shaped leaves developing in autumn as the old ones die back. In early summer produces conical heads of many purplish-blue flowers, opening first around the base of the flowerhead.
cultivation:
Plant bulbs in late summer or early autumn, about 8 to 10cm deep. Reasonably fertile, preferably humus-rich, well-drained soil in full sun or part shade.
