The Picture Gallery section of the website has been replaced by a new and quite different gallery using the Piwigo software. This provides a more modern and flexible solution than the old gallery which was composed of static HTML files. As well an improved user experience it should be much easier to maintain.

All the photos from the old pages have been transferred into the new gallery, so no content has been lost. A few new plant pictures have been added and more will follow. The plant pictures are exactly the same as used in the Plant Base software.

Piwigo is written in PHP and uses a MySQL database so it is very compatible with the rest of the website. I considered several gallery products and Piwigo looked the most suitable. I’m using the Bootstrap Default theme from the Piwigo website plus a custom ‘child’ theme produced by myself to closely match the appearance of the other site pages.

All this is new so please bear with me if there are some initial glitches!
