A new version of the Plant Base for Android (1.37) has been released today and also it’s related data support app (1.04). They are available via Google Play or by direct download from the website for those users who are authorised.

Free licences for Plant Base on Linux !
Anyone who wants to use Plant Base on Linux can get a free licence by simply asking for one.
This offer is available right now and probably remain at least while the Linux edition is in the Beta phase. Once issued, the licence is permanent, will never expire and may be used for all future versions of Plant Base. The licence registration code will only work for the Linux edition – unlike the full paid licence it will not enable the Windows or Mac editions, or in certain cases Android.

There is only one change from the recently released 2.1.10 Beta 4, but this is significant for anyone wishing to install on one of the latest popular Linux distro versions.
Plant Base – new version 2.1.10
I am happy to announce a new version of Plant Base – 2.1.10
For all editions, Windows, Mac and Linux, there are a number of bug fixes. For that reason I would recommend that all users update the program. It’s quick and easy and does not need to have any effect on the database.
Android 9 (Pie) and Plant Base
I am happy to report that the current version of Plant Base for Android, 1.35, has now been successfully tested under Android 9 Pie. Using a brand new Motorola Moto G7 Power, Plant Base installed and runs with no issues whatsoever.
Plant Base on MacOS Mojave
Over time I’ve had a few messages from users who have had various problems when running Plant Base on the later versions of the Mac operating systems. This is difficult because in most cases I cannot reproduce or verify the issues. My Mac development machine needs to stay on an old version of the OS in order to maximise compatibility. However, a visiting family member recently turned up with a rather swish MacBook running the latest MacOS Mojave. He was kind enough to load and test Plant Base 2.1.9.
Plant Base for Linux, Beta update 2.1.9
The Linux desktop edition of Plant Base has been updated to the same level as the Windows and Mac edition. Also some extra bug fixes and other small changes specific to the Linux edition have been included.
This is still definitely only at the Beta stage! However, I’m really pleased with how it has been running on my own systems and it has been perfectly usable here. There have been no issues at all with the database access side of things. Not surprising perhaps, as this shares the same code as the other editions. Development and initial testing have been done on two MX Linux systems, 64-bit and 32-bit, with additional testing on Linux Mint.

A new version release of Plant Base for Windows and Mac is now available for download, 2.1.9.
This is mostly another maintenance release with some bug fixes. There are also a couple of additional new features.
Plant Base for Android – new version 1.35
An updated version of the Android app was recently published on Google Play.
This version has some significant changes that bring it up to date with latest requirements for the Google Play store. The app should successfully run on Android 8 (Oreo) or later, but also remains compatible with older versions of Android.
Plant Base new version – 2.1.8
A new program release of Plant Base for Windows and Mac is now available. Version 2.1.8 is essentially another maintenance release with just a few fairly small changes and some bug fixes.
There is not yet a new release of the plant database to go with it, so it’s only the program part. As usual, updating the plant data has been happening continuously but is not significant enough to justify issuing yet – so that will come later on.
