description:
Tall conical tree usually with a straight trunk. Rough, scaly bark. Whorls of blue-green, narrow leaves with bluntly rounded tips, Upright cylindrical cones, turning brown with maturity.

Grows naturally on rocky, calcareous soil on warm sunny mountainsides.

propagation:
From seed.

other notes:
Very rare and endangered in the wild, found only in one location, around the Madonna degli Angeli Valley, Northern Sicily. Once grew much more extensively, but now reduced by logging and erosion.
Occasionaly available for cultivation and sometimes used for Bonsai.
