Slender creeping stems of small, finely divided, pinnate, bronze-purple flushed greyish leaves. Insignificant round greenish white flowerheads develop into red seed burs, in late summer. The burrs do not have the barbed spines that some other species do. Spreads quickly.
Any well drained soil in full sun. Will tolerate a little shade.
Easiest by division of rooted stems, in autumn or early spring. Also from seed.
Rock and gravel gardens, ground cover in borders.
