Graceful with delicate foliage, forming a spreading mound with cascading branches. Deep purple leaves, somewhat variable as not all seedlings produce the parents colour.
Moist, well drained, fertile soil in sun or part shade. Needs a position sheltered from cold winds and late frosts, which can damage emerging foliage. Prune if required, by removing dead or unwanted branches in late autumn to midwinter.
By grafting in late winter, or bud-grafts in late summer.
