description:
Erect large shrub or small, often multi-stemmed, tree. Amber-yellow bark with faint white lines and a white bloom, most conspicuous in winter. Opposite, simple to 3 or sometimes 5-lobed, toothed, light to mid-green leaves. Clusters of greenish yellow flowers in spring, followed by winged seeds.

cultivation:
Moist, well drained, fertile soil in sun or part shade.
Prune if required, by removing dead or unwanted branches in late autumn to midwinter.

propagation:
By grafting, but difficult and with a low sucess rate.

other notes:
Very similar in appearance to Acer rufinerve 'Winter Gold'. Should not be confused with Acer pensylvanicum 'Erythrocladum', which has pinkish bark.
Fairly rare.
