Magenta to purplish-red berried form.
Clumps of stiff, slender stems with light green irregularly divided pinnate leaves. Racemes of creamy white flowers in late spring and early summer.
Cool, moist, reasonably fertile soil in partial shade. Enrich soil with leaf-mould and ensure it does not dry out completely in hot weather.
By seed, sown in autumn, or by division of clumps in early spring.
Berries are very toxic.
Rarer than the normal white berried form.
