Short-lived perennial with oblong to lanceolate, hairy grey-green leaves. Small yellow flowers produced over a long period during summer.
Very well drained, preferably sandy or gritty soil in full sun. Dislikes winter wet, drought tolerant and can grow in hot arid conditions.
By seed, division or root cuttings in late winter.
Used medicinally in the Middle-East for the treatment of sore throats.
Native to South-eastern Europe and Western Asia, found on rocky slopes and in desert areas.
