description:
Medium to large, conical, deciduous tree with relatively narrow, ovate, glossy dark green leaves, paler on the undersides. Clusters of long, pendant, yellow-brown male catkins and smaller brownish-red female ones, make a good show in late winter and early spring, before the leaves emerge. Ovoid fruits develop in summer.
