Rhizomatous perennial which can form large colonies. Glossy , arrow shaped leaves on long stalks. Curious dark brownish-purple, hooded flowers produced in spring, with long, thin curled tips giving the appearance of mouse's tail.
Requires humus rich, moist soil and partial shade.

Good for a woodland garden or as a container grown curiosity.
