description:
Vigorous upright growing canes with large blue-green leaves. Needs some moisture and in cool climates, a sheltered position. Forms large colonies in ideal conditions.

cultivation:
Moist fertile soil in a sunny sheltered position, protected from cold winds. Very good near water. Tolerates a few degrees of frost but thrives best in warm, Mediterranean or sub-tropical climates. Will tolerate some salt and sometimes found near brackish water behind sand dunes.

propagation:
Division of clumps or by seed.

usage:
Stems are used for basket making and other purposes.
