description:
Large evergreen shrub with an open, tree-like habit. Small dark green leaves arranged in fan like sprays. Tiny yellow, vanilla scented flowers in spring.

cultivation:
Prefers a sheltered position in sun or light shade as windburn may occur in exposed locations. Likes a deep humus rich soil, but will grow in most ordinary garden soils which are neither very wet or very dry.
Mature plants may tolerate quite low temperatures, down to about -15°C, but young plants are less hardy. New spring growth can be damaged by late frosts.
Can be effectively trained as a wall shrub.
