Medium to large evergreen shrub with heather-like foliage of small linear dark green leaves. New growth is bright lime green. Large cylindrical spikes of golden orange or red flowers, normally produced in autumn or winter.

Well drained, sandy lime-free soil in a sunny position. Will tolerate some frost and can be grown in very mild sheltered locations in the UK.
May grow to a larger size in ideal conditions.
