description:
Smaller and slower growing than the species. Leaves are mid-green tinted with bronze. Produces spikes of soft pink flowers on sturdy red-flushed stems, from early spring and sometimes sporadically in summer.

cultivation:
Best in humus-rich, moist, well drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Will tolerate many conditions including poor soil and exposed positions, but dislikes extreme heat and drought. Divide and replant clumps every 3 to 5 years.

propagation:
From sections of root rhizome, each with at least one leaf node or growing bud, preferably taken after flowering in late spring or in autumn. Plant in well drained soil or compost.
