This variety has the best white bark, very conspicuous during winter. Graceful tree with pointed oval leaves, larger than the Silver Birch, which turn yellow in autumn.

Moist, well drained soil in sun or light dappled shade. Reputedly tolerant of dry soils.

Looks even better when planted in small groups. Excellent at the edge of woodland, where the dark background shows up the white trunks.
