Alpine biennial making flatish rosettes of leathery, bluish green mottled leaves with white veins. In its second year produces a stem bearing a spray of small pink flowers, after which the rosettes will die. Normally flowers in late spring. May produce offsets first.

Sharply drained, gritty soil in full sun.
Flowering stems may be cut off to encourage production of offsets.

From seed, offsets or leaf cuttings. Sometimes self seeds.
