Spreading bush with oval or oblong deep green leaves, sometimes turning yellow in autumn. They are aromatic when crushed. Unusual fragrant, brownish-red flowers with numerous narrowly lance-shaped petals, fading to brown at the tips.

Moist, fertile, humus-rich soil, in full sun or part shade in warm climates.

From seed, softwood cuttings in summmer, layering in autumn or by removal of suckers in spring.
