Strong growing hybrid ultimately growing to a large spreading tree. The large, lobed leaves are purple when young, with a satin sheen, becoming green as they age. Fragrant white flowers with yellow and purple markings, may be borne by mature trees in summer.
Any reasonable soil but performs best in deep, moist loam. Strong winds can damage the leaves so a sheltered position is preferred. Tolerant of atmospheric pollution.
Prune to restrict size and produce larger leaves.
