Vigorous, fast growing, large evergreen, often developing a short sturdy trunk. Glossy leaves and prolific blue flowers in late spring. Small black fruits later.
Most well drained soils, but not very chalky ones. Prefers full sun. Reasonably frost hardy, but best in a sheltered position in cool areas. Best against a sunny wall, otherwise may suffer in cold Winters.
Prune after flowering.
By semi-ripe cuttings taken from mid-summer to autumn - can be tricky, a little bottom heat may help.
Raised at the Trewithen Gardens, Truro, Cornwall.
