Low growing sub-shrub with a herbaceous habit. Spreads to form a good ground cover. Slender red stems with wavy-edged, bristly, bright-green leaves. Bright blue flowers in late summer and early autumn. The foliage colours attractively in autumn, complementing the flowers.
Prefers a sunny position with a light free draining soil. Will grow in some shade in warm climates.
Cut back in late autumn or winter.
Can be invasive in some situations, but not normally problematic.
From seed, by division or cuttings
Excellent for colour in late season.
Sometimes listed under perennials, which may be right as it seems to fall part way between a herbaceous perennial and a shrub.
