Most reasonable soils in sun or light shade. Generally easy to grow but performs best in a continental climate and flowers best after long hot summers. Drought resistant once established.
Male and female trees are needed to produce viable seed.
From seed. Also by semi-hardwood cutting, but they can be difficult to root.
