description:
Thin-stemmed climber producing pendent violet-blue flowers in spring, followed by fluffy seedheads. Pinnate leaves with toothed mid-green leaflets.

cultivation:
All clematis prefer alkaline soil but will normally tolerate other soil types. Requires regular supply of moisture. When planting, make the hole deeper than usual, as a precaution against Clematis wilt.

Prune to tidy after flowering.

propagation:
Semi-ripe cuttings in early summer. By layering in late winter or early spring.
