description:
Small, non-clinging, herbaceous clematis producing deep violet flowers with slightly twisted petals and yellow anthers, from June to October. Attractive silvery seed heads follow the flowers. New foliage is bronzy-green.

cultivation:
Fertile, humus-rich, moist but well drained soil in full sun or part shade. Needs to be tied into a support or can be allowed to trail along the ground or over a wall.
Prune hard back in late winter.

propagation:
By division, cuttings or layering.
