Herbaceous variety with a scrambling, semi-climbing habit, not self-clinging. Small, fragrant, violet-blue flowers with a large tuft of white and yellow stamens. Flowers from July to September.

All clematis prefer alkaline soil but will normally tolerate other soil types. Requires regular supply of moisture. Best in a sunny position. When planting, make the hole deeper than usual, as a precaution against Clematis wilt.
Cut back hard in autumn.
