Large, tapering, rough-textured, woolly grey-green aromatic leaves with clusters of scarlet-orange tubular flowers at the tips of the stems in late summer.

cultivation:
Best in a sunny sheltered position, but reputed to tolerate some shade from nearby tree foliage which might also offer some protection. Not happy in cold areas.

The genus is named after Robert Colquhounia, a patron of the Calcutta Botanic Garden in the early 1800's.
