Rare and unusual small shrub with a dense, spreading habit. Striking purple-flushed leaves turning deep purple in autumn. Heads of creamy-white flowers opening from purple-tinged buds, followed by clusters of white berries which contrast strongly against the dark foliage.

Very hardy and robust. Adaptable to many soils even poorly drained clay.
