Coral-red bark. Brilliant in winter. Dark green leaves in spring/summer. Good autumn colour. White umbels of flowers are produced on old wood followed by bluish-white fruits. Flowers and fruit are lost if the shrub is kept cut hard back to maintain stem colour
Very hardy and robust. Adaptable to many soils even poorly drained clay.
Prune in late winter, either removing about a third of the oldest stems or cutting back all stems every 3 or 4 years.
