Vigorous erect branches, green leaves and white flowerheads followed by clusters of white berries, if not cut back in spring. Hard pruning results in attractive yellow stems during winter.
Moist, fertile soil in sun or part shade, but quite adaptable.
Prune in late winter, either removing about a third of the oldest stems or cutting back all stems every 3 or 4 years.
