Compact form, large, wide opening, orange flowers with mahogany-red throats, in late summer.
Cut back foliage as it discolours. Divide every five to six years. Mulch in autumn. Top dress with bonemeal or proprietary bulb fertiliser in spring.
By division of established clumps, separating and replanting the corms in early spring.
Introduced 1951. Reported to be a sport of an old Earlham Giant Montbretia called 'Comet'.
